Biden’s Future Is Dead In The Water Thanks To This Democrat

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin has yet again killed Pres. Biden’s “Build Back Better” plan, telling media this week that it is deader than it has ever been.

While the establishment news reported this week from two different sources that were confirmed that Sen. Manchin was resuming the negotiations on Pres. Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion reconciliation package, the WV senior told media the huge tax and spending plan had no chance and was still dead.

“I am not agreeing to any part of this spending plan,” Joe Manchin said about the changes to the package the news reported. “There have been no conversations” with Pres. Biden or the White House.

Manchin reiterated his Dec. position: “I feel as strongly as I did then as I do today.”

“I’m really not going to discuss the Build Back Better plan… there’s no negotiations going on at this time,” Joe Manchin said.

Meanwhile, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) reportedly acknowledged that Pres. Joe Biden’s agenda is dead – at least until the Senate Dems attempt to pass legislation that will federalize all local elections.

To federalize all local elections, it would require at least 60 “yes” votes in a senate that has a 50/50 split. GOP senators oppose the federalizing of local elections. Therefore, Senate Dems have proposed doing away with the filibuster, which will mean the measure might pass with just 50 Senate votes.

But Manchin told reporters this week canceling the filibuster for the sole reason of federalizing elections is a “heavy lift” and is not really his “absolute preference.”

“And the reason I say it is a heavy lift is once you change up a rule or you have a carve out, I have always said the same thing – anytime there is a carve out, you eat that whole turkey. There is nothing left on it because it goes back and forth,” Manchin said.

Along with 50 Republican senators, Sen. Manchin’s opposition to changing the filibuster rules and to the huge $1.9 trillion reconciliation package has threatened to upend Pres. Joe Biden’s most prized legislative items.
